STARTING MY DOCUMENTARY
After watching all the documentaries in class, our project was to make one ourselves! So my group and I started brainstorming. We know we wanted to make the documentary something that people wouldn't get bored of and want to watch more. When we had some-what of an idea, we planned it out on paper.

Our idea revolves around my Dad, who owns a company called Sumiflex. We wanted to make a documentary about people who have immigrated to the United States. Since both my parents immigrated to the United States, we decided to make the documentary about one of them.
My Mom was on a trip, so we decided to make the documentary about my Dad. My Dad owns a company called Sumiflex that was founded by my Grandfather in Venezuela. My Dad was the one who brought the company to the United States. There were many struggles including learning a new language.
So, we started to research! We planned our outline. We made sure everything was planned perfectly, since Thanksgiving break was coming up, and we wanted to have everything set up by then. Since the documentary was about my Dad, we wanted to have other people interviewed as well. So, we decided to use my Grandmother and I.
We used the documentaries we watched in class for inspiration. We looked back at our summaries and decided which shots and angles to use and whether or not to use direct or indirect interviews.
And after that, production started! Next blog post is about starting the production of my documentary!
